The Power Of Gratitude

When times are tough and when you see Murphy’s Law in action, it is very tempting to just feel blah, depressed and spend your time asking:


“Why me?, Why me?, Why always me? Nothing works for me?

My life is a tragedy… I’m so unlucky. My life sucks…”


I know I do it too, and there are times when I’m really pissed off, frustrated or angry at the world and people.


However, I also make sure that every day I take 5 to 10 minutes no matter what to fill in my Gratitude Journal because What You THANK You BRING About.


This is what helps you when you are down to look on the other side, and see what you’ve been given.


Just start by writing down three things you are grateful for each day.


It could be something really insignificant (so we think it is) or something really profound (so we think it is too) that happened, something that someone gave us, something that we witnessed, something we perceived or realised about a situation, a person that we met, anything really…


For me, often the fact to wake up in the morning with beautiful sunshine and warmth on my face as I go to work is definitely something to be grateful for.


The fact that I have all my 5 senses, that I can walk, run, exercise, that I can appreciate the colours, see and talk to people I care about is definitely something I’m grateful for. 


A look, a smile, a frown, a joke, a laugh, hugs, a connection with people, a knowing, experiencing synchronicity, being surrounded with people that love you and that you love, people you can trust, people that are sincere, people that make you laugh and with whom you can have fun, enjoying a nice meal.


Having the means to eat every day, having a house where you can sleep and stay warm in winter, having someone to share your life with, having a partner, having a best friend, having other friends, being integrated into society, having the freedom of speech, the freedom to say what you want when you want it, being in a safe country that is not riddled with war and crime...


All these little things that we take for granted but that 90% of the world population cannot access…


These little things are definitely worth counting because they could disappear at any time…


There is also a business principle that says: That which you don’t measure, you can’t improve“.


Well I believe it is also true for counting your blessings, it may not be an obvious immediate impact, something readily observable, but bit by bit, when you do it, your life changes, or your perception of your life changes and that is what matters most.


Because our life is just what we perceive, and what we make out of it in our mind and heart.


It may seem “fluffy” and a very simple and obvious thing to say, but these “fluffy” things are what make up our lives, our memories, and feelings, and memories and feelings are all we have…


So take 5 min each day and count your blessings and write them down in your Gratitude Journal because to know and not to do, is not yet to know!
