Core Identity
Having crystal clarity of your Core Identity is important for three reasons:
- Your Core identity dictates your everyday life, from your thoughts, your decisions and actions, to your behaviours. Your Core Identity dictates and will determine how you use, spend, or invest (or waste…) your most precious resources of time, space, energy, money and relationships with your environment (both physical and social).
- Your core identity is also about your life path, and being able to see your life’s masterpiece unfolding. Understanding and appreciating your life journey and seeing the common thread in your past and future destiny is crucial to achieving a sense of certainty regarding your worth and value. This awareness is necessary for you to embark on ambitious projects and stay focused (on track and on target) as life test your perseverance and resilience along the way by throwing roadblocks at you and testing your determination, vision and mission.
- Crystal clarity of your Core Identity allows you to tap into your inner drive – that inner self-belief and faith that will birth the energy and inspiration necessary to set things in motion in order to achieve the things that you desire most.
Ultimately, knowing your Core Identity is about connecting with yourself at a deeper level, and having crystal clarity of WHO you truly are, WHAT your life is about, and WHY you want to achieve certain things in life. Your core identity is your compass, it gives you the direction, the energy and the momentum to move forward…
It dictates your destiny on the micro (day-to-day activities) and on the macro (purpose, vision, mission) levels.
If you’re currently at a point in your life, where things are changing, if you’re in transition both at the personal and/or professional levels, or if you feel that things are not moving forward the way you wish, now might be a good time to pause, take a moment just for yourself, and reflect on the following quality questions:
- Who am I?
- What do I want to achieve in life?
- Why do I want to achieve it?
- What is my life about?
Don’t be too hard on yourself, don’t get too hung up with it. Make it a playful exercise of investigation and curiosity because there is no right or wrong answer… And if you are having difficulty putting your finger on it or somehow it’s not coming to you and you experience some kind of resistance, don’t beat yourself up. Be patient…
Having clarity of your Core Identity and appreciating it fully is what will give you meaning, fulfilment, vitality, results, and longevity in life.
